Great Turnout for CTAA!

CTAA returned to New Orleans this year. It was great to see so many familiar faces along with many new faces! Our “Zoomies” were especially popular with the attendees and many entered our drawing for a free iPod. The winner of the iPod was William E. Osborne from Frederickstown, MO! Congratulations William! We’ll be shipping your iPod to you and thanks to all who entered! We would also like to give a special thank you to those that touted Easy Rides to other attendees! Your recommendations speak volumes!

While in New Orleans, we invited our customers to join us for a Wednesday night ghost tour and a good number of customers signed up. This was to be a two hour walking tour through the French Quarter visiting historical ghost sites. We had been told it was a ten minute walk from the Embassy Suites hotel where we were staying. In truth, it was more like a thirty minute, very brisk walk and by the time we arrived at the tour site (with our numbers somewhat reduced due to the long trek), it had gone without us. We made the most of it by stepping into the Orleans Grapevine Wine Bar & Bistro where we ordered food and drink and enjoyed each other’s company. Following that, some chose to further explore the French Quarter on their own while others began the arduous trip back to the hotel. All in all it was an exciting week!

CTAA 2009 is scheduled for May 30 – June 5 in Providence, Rhode Island. We hope to see you there!

Easy Rides, Backups and Disaster Preparation

Easy Rides allows you to capture lots of data, and it is important that you keep that data backed up. We recommend that in addition to traditional tape or hard drive based backups of your server, you back up your Easy Rides Database each day to a small flash drive and keep it in a secure offsite location. In addition to having a second backup, (you can never be to safe with your data) a database backup on an inexpensive flash drive can be very convenient in the event of a problem with your server.

Often in the event of a disaster, you are too busy to worry about recovering data, or your IT department has several departments with machines they need to work on at once. Or you might have no electricity in the area.

Whatever the disaster, be it a hardware failure, power outage, software problems, or anything else, as long as you have a copy of your database on a portable flash drive, we can help. If you can get to any internet connection, we can take the backup, restore it to one of our computers and host your Easy Rides database, giving you remote access to a computer with Easy Rides already set up on it. In addition, we’ll work with you to get manifests to your drivers via email or fax if necessary. We’ll do anything we can to make life easier for you when you have a disaster, but it does require an available backup for us to work up. Wyoming businesses never dreamed that North Carolina would send a storm our way. Jon Benson has definitely been that storm. Wyoming’s business advisors were given a directive by our State legislators, “grow Wyoming technology businesses”. Born from A joint venture funded by the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Business Council, the Wyoming Technology Business Center was developed. Jon Benson was hired to carry out Wyoming’s goal of becoming a State known for its development and growth of technology businesses.

Mobilitat is please to be recognized as a fast growing, high technology corporation. While the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Business Council headquarters are in the far eastern part of the State, and Mobilitat offices are in the far western part of the State, Jon has left no technology stone unturned. Making the almost 4 hour drive to Green River every quarter to discuss business milestones helps Mobilitat keep our quarterly planning cycles current. At Mobilitat our customers come first, but our staff members are our greatest asset; quarterly planning helps us keep our focus on both.

Bottom line for the State of Wyoming is the creation of technology jobs for our State’s young highly educated adults.
